I am originally from a small town in Western Iowa. I initially went into the military after high school, then received my BA in Elementary Education from Upper Iowa University. This is my 4th year at South Union Elementary and my 17th year with Des Moines Public Schools. I am married with two sons who keep us busy running to soccer and different activities. My hobbies include hunting, fishing (anything in the outdoors), reading, painting, and just hanging out with my family.
I grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. I attended Christ the King Elementary School and Dowling High School. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa. This is my 27th year of teaching, and I can’t imagine a profession that would be more rewarding for me. I taught English as a Second Language for 4 years, a 1st/2nd grade combination class for 1 year, 2nd grade for 14 years, and this is my 8th year teaching 3rd grade. My husband and I have 2 children, one at the University of Iowa and one at DMACC. When I’m not teaching or preparing to teach, I love to spend time with them. We love to travel, attend Hawkeye football games, and hang out with family and friends.
