Student Handprints Headed to California

The Kind-Hearted Handprints that were on display in the building are now on their way to Dignity Health Hospital in California where an organization called Kids for Peace will combine them with other student handprints to try and break the Guinness Book of World Records record for the largest collage of cut-out handprints. The current record is 30,006!

Tutoring Sign Up at South Union

Students who attend a Title I school in Des Moines may be eligible for tutoring services at no cost to their family. In order to be eligible students must attend one of the 25 Title I schools in Des Moines and meet low income guidelines. To learn more and to register, click on the headline.

Student Council Cleans Up Neighborhood

Members of the South Union Elementary School student council broke up into teams, picked up rakes and spent Tuesday afternoon clearing neighboring yards of leaves and debris. DMPS, Parks & Rec Partner for Basketball

Des Moines Parks and Recreation and Des Moines Public Schools are partnering to offer a youth basketball league for the 2014-2015 season. The program is for students in grades 1st through 7th.
